Renaissance rapier sword of the legendary Corsair captain and Vice admiral of England during Elizabethan era.
English corsairs were privateers, authorized to conduct raids on shipping of a nation at war with enemies, on behalf of the English crown.
Sir Francis Drake, vice admiral (1540–1596) was an English sea captain, privateer, navigator, slaver, and politician of the Elizabethan era. Drake carried out the second circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition, from 1577 to 1580, and was the first to complete the voyage as captain while leading the expedition throughout the entire circumnavigation. With his incursion into the Pacific he inaugurated an era of privateering and piracy in the western coast of the Americas-an area that had previously been free of piracy. Drake was demon of Spanish seas.
Elizabeth I of England awarded Drake a knighthood in 1581. He was second-in-command of the English fleet against the Spanish Invasion in 1588. Armada was the greatest military fleet in the world under command of Philip II but his attempt to conquer England totally failed.
